IAS 2021 notification and application was released on March 4 for 712 vacancies. IAS Prelims 2021 Exam is scheduled to be conducted on June 27. Merit-based Civil Services were first introduced in India in 1854. For this purpose, a Civil Service Commission was set up in 1854 in London and a competitive examination was conducted in 1855. This service was called Indian Civil Services(ICS) at that time. For the first time in 1922, the Indian Civil Service Examination began to held in India also, first in Allahabad and later in Delhi with the setting up of the Federal Public Service Commission. The ICS examination in London continued to be conducted by the Civil Service Commission.

UPSC IAS Exam 2021 Highlights
IAS Eligibility 2021
IAS Eligibility 2021 was modified by the UPSC as it agreed to provide an extra attempt to the candidates who exhausted their attempts last year but otherwise are eligible for the IAS exams 2021. UPSC and Union Government both agreed in the Supreme Court to provide an extra attempt as a one-time facility to the candidates who are under the age criteria defined in the UPSC IAS notification. The nationality, the number of attempts, age limit and educational qualifications are some of the basic eligibility criteria for the IAS exam. All candidates who wish to appear in the IAS exam 2021 need to ensure that they meet all the eligibility criteria mentioned below.
Nationality
For Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS), a candidate must be a citizen of India. For all other services, a candidate can either be a citizen of India or
- A subject of Nepal/ Bhutan
- A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 1, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India
- A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Note: Candidates who are subjects of Nepal/ Bhutan or Tibetan refugees are not eligible to apply for Indian Foreign Service (IFS).
Age Limit for IAS Exam 2021
Candidate must be minimum 21 years and maximum 32 years of age as on August 1, 2021. This means that candidates must have born not earlier than August 2, 1989 and not later than August 1, 2000.

No age relaxation will be provided to the Economically Weaker Sections in the UPSC Civil Services (IAS) Exam 2021.
Educational Qualification for IAS
Candidates must hold a graduation degree in any stream from any university established under the act passed by the Parliament of India or State legislature. Candidates who are in the last year of the graduation and awaiting results are also eligible to apply for IAS preliminary exam. However, such candidates need to submit proof of passing the requisite exam at the time of applying for the Main exam. The applications for IAS Main exam are usually released in the month of July/ August.
Physical Standards
Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards given in the Civil Services examination rules gazette notification.
Number of Attempts in IAS Exam
All candidates are allowed a maximum of six attempts in the IAS exam. However, it may be noted that the restriction of the number of attempts is not applicable for candidates belonging to SC/ST category. Also, candidates belonging to OBC and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities categories are allowed a maximum of nine attempts in the exam.
If a candidate appears in any one paper of the IAS Prelims Exam, then it is deemed that he has made an attempt in the IAS Exam.

UPSC Notification 2021
UPSC Notification 2021 was issued on March 4. IAS applications 2021 was activated with the issuance of UPSC notification. Civil Service Notification for the IAS exam is a very important document because all the process of the IAS exam is governed as per the instructions and procedures given in this notification. In addition to the UPSC IAS notification, UPSC also releases the Civil Services exam conducting rules on the same day. The rules and procedure for the IAS exam are written in that notification.
IAS Application 2021
The candidates will be getting 20 days to fill the IAS application 2021. The candidates need to submit the IAS application fee according to their category because without the application fee, the IAS application 2021 will be cancelled.
Candidates could fill the IAS application form in online mode@upsconline.nic.in within the stipulated time period. Once the application form is filled, candidates also need to pay IAS application fee in online or offline mode. The details of the category-wise IAS application fee are as follows.
